Tax Disputes Director

London | Hybrid Working Available

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)

A specialist boutique tax advisory firm based in London is seeking an experienced Tax Disputes Director to join its senior team and help drive the continued growth of its tax disputes offering.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an established tax disputes professional who combines exceptional technical capability with a strong commercial mindset. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on complex HMRC disputes while playing a key role in developing client relationships, generating new opportunities, and winning business.

The firm works with a broad range of clients, including high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, business owners, and professional advisers, providing specialist advice on complex tax investigations, disputes, and negotiations with HMRC.

This role would suit an ambitious senior tax professional who is looking for the autonomy and influence of a boutique environment, where they can shape strategy, strengthen market presence, and make a meaningful contribution to the firm's growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading complex UK tax disputes and HMRC investigations, including COP8 and COP9 matters.
  • Providing strategic advice to clients on contentious tax issues, investigation strategy, risk management, and resolution.
  • Managing sensitive and technically complex cases through to successful outcomes.
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, accountants, lawyers, wealth advisers, and other professional intermediaries.
  • Identifying and converting new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and market engagement.
  • Developing and expanding the firm's tax disputes offering and market profile.
  • Representing the firm externally and contributing to thought leadership and business development initiatives.
  • Supporting and mentoring colleagues while contributing to the wider direction of the practice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
