Are you an experienced Tax Disputes Manager looking for your next opportunity in England? We are partnering with a range of highly regarded firms across the accountancy and tax advisory industry, from Big 4 and Top 20 practices to specialist boutique firms, all looking to strengthen their Tax Disputes teams.
These opportunities offer exposure to a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals, owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and large corporates, giving you the chance to work on complex tax enquiries, investigations, and dispute resolution matters.
The Role
As a Tax Disputes Manager, you'll play a key role in managing client relationships and resolving complex tax disputes with HMRC. Depending on the firm, responsibilities may include:

- Managing a portfolio of tax enquiries and dispute cases from inception through to resolution.
- Advising clients on HMRC enquiries, disclosures, and investigations.
- Leading and supporting COP8 and COP9 cases.
- Developing strategies to resolve complex disputes and negotiating with HMRC.
- Supporting Partners and Directors on technical matters and business development initiatives.
- Coaching and mentoring junior team members.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Strong experience in Tax Disputes, Investigations, or HMRC enquiries.
- Proven expertise managing COP8 and COP9 cases.
- Excellent knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC enquiry processes.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- A professional qualification such as CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT, or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous HMRC operational enquiry experience is highly desirable, particularly within compliance, investigations, or teams managing COP8 and COP9 cases.
