Location: London (Hybrid Working)

Tax Disputes Manager | Top 50 Accountancy Firm | London (Hybrid)

I'm currently partnering with a highly regarded Top 50 UK accountancy firm seeking an experienced Tax Disputes Manager to join its expanding specialist tax team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a firm with an outstanding reputation in the tax disputes space, working on complex and high-value cases for a diverse portfolio of clients including owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals and large corporates.

The Role

As a Tax Disputes Manager, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of contentious tax matters, working closely with clients, HMRC and senior stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially focused solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of tax disputes and investigations from enquiry through to resolution.
  • Leading on complex HMRC enquiries, disclosures and settlement negotiations.
  • Advising clients on COP8 and COP9 investigations.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the dispute process.
  • Preparing technical correspondence, disclosure reports and settlement proposals.
  • Working alongside Partners and Directors on complex contentious tax matters.
  • Building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to add value.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • CTA, ACA, ACCA or ATT qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience managing tax disputes and investigations.
  • Strong experience handling COP8 and COP9 cases is essential.
  • Excellent understanding of HMRC enquiry processes and dispute resolution.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to manage multiple client relationships.
  • Previous HMRC experience would be highly advantageous but is not essential.
