Tax Investigations Assistant Manager

Location: London and the South East
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days in the office, 3 days from home

I'm currently working with a highly regarded and growing accountancy practice that is looking to appoint a Tax Investigations Assistant Manager to join its specialist Tax Disputes team. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career within a dedicated investigations practice, working on a varied portfolio of HMRC enquiries, disclosures and dispute resolution matters.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced specialists, advising a broad range of clients including high-net-worth individuals, owner-managed businesses and corporate entities on complex HMRC investigations.

- Manage a portfolio of HMRC enquiries and tax dispute cases.
- Assist with COP8, COP9, voluntary disclosures and offshore matters.
- Prepare responses to HMRC information requests, appeals and technical correspondence.
- Support senior colleagues on complex investigations and litigation matters.
- Liaise directly with HMRC and clients throughout the enquiry process.
- Assist with Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Tribunal preparation where required.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to their technical development.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- Experience managing HMRC investigations or tax dispute cases within practice.
- Previous HMRC experience and/or accountancy practice experience within tax investigations is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of HMRC enquiry processes, disclosures and tax disputes.
- Strong technical, analytical and communication skills.
- ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification (or be working towards one).
- A proactive approach and the ability to build trusted client relationships.
