Tax Investigations Manager
Top 50 Accountancy Firm | Midlands | Hybrid Working
Join a growing Tax Disputes & Investigations team working on complex and high-profile HMRC matters.
I'm partnering with a highly respected Top 50 accountancy firm that is expanding its specialist Tax Disputes & Investigations offering. They are looking to appoint an experienced Tax Investigations Manager to join a technically strong team delivering expert advice to clients across a broad range of complex tax matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Tax Investigations professional who wants to work on challenging cases, build trusted client relationships and enjoy the autonomy, visibility and progression opportunities that come with joining a growing specialist team.
The Opportunity
As a Tax Investigations Manager, you will play a key role in advising clients across a broad range of tax disputes and HMRC investigations, including:
- Managing complex HMRC enquiries from initial notification through to resolution.
- Advising on COP8, COP9, voluntary disclosures and civil tax investigations.
- Preparing technical submissions, disclosure reports and settlement strategies.
- Leading client communications and acting as a trusted adviser throughout the investigation process.
- Working closely with Partners on sensitive and high-value cases.
- Managing, supporting and developing junior team members.
- Contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the Tax Investigations practice.

The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong experience managing HMRC enquiries and tax investigations within a professional services environment.
- A detailed understanding of tax dispute resolution, disclosures and HMRC investigation processes.
- Previous HMRC experience combined with practice experience would be highly advantageous.
- CTA, ACA, ACCA, ATT or equivalent qualification (or qualified by experience).
- The ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- A proactive, commercially aware approach with the confidence to manage client relationships independently.
