Tax Investigations Manager | Manchester | Hybrid | Competitive Salary + Benefits
I am working with a range of leading professional services and accountancy firms across Manchester, including Big Four, Top 20, Top 50 and specialist boutique practices, who are looking to appoint experienced Tax Investigations Managers to join their growing Tax Disputes and Investigations teams.
These opportunities are ideal for ambitious tax professionals looking to progress their career within the professional services industry, working with respected firms that advise a diverse client base on complex and high-value tax investigations and disputes.
The Opportunity
Based in Manchester, these roles provide the opportunity to work on challenging and high-profile tax matters, advising clients through complex interactions with HMRC and helping them navigate sensitive tax investigations from start to resolution.
You will work with a varied client portfolio, including private clients, owner-managed businesses, large corporates and international organisations, while collaborating with experienced Partners and senior tax specialists on complex cases.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of complex HMRC enquiries, investigations and tax dispute matters.
- Advising clients on investigation strategy, disclosures and settlement negotiations.
- Preparing technical submissions, reports and correspondence.
- Building trusted client relationships and acting as a key point of contact.
- Supporting Partners and Directors on complex tax controversy engagements.
- Reviewing technical work and supporting junior team members.
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the tax investigations practice.
About You
I am keen to speak with professionals who have:
- Experience in tax investigations, tax disputes, tax controversy or HMRC enquiries.
- ACA, ACCA, CTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to apply it in a commercial environment.
- Experience managing complex client engagements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior colleagues.
