Tax Investigations Manager Location: London (Remote Working Available) Salary: £60,000 to £85,000 We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tax Investigations Manager to join a growing and highly regarded professional services team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with strong investigative, analytical, and compliance experience to lead complex tax enquiries and disputes while enjoying flexible remote working arrangements. The Role As a Tax Investigations Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of tax investigations, supporting clients through enquiries initiated by HMRC and managing complex tax disputes from start to resolution. You will work closely with clients, advisers, and regulatory bodies while providing technical guidance and strategic oversight on investigation matters. Key Responsibilities Managing a portfolio of HMRC enquiries, investigations, and compliance checks from initial notification through to resolution. Leading client engagements and acting as the primary point of contact throughout the investigation process. Reviewing financial records, tax returns, and supporting documentation to identify potential risks and exposures. Developing investigation strategies and advising clients on risk mitigation and compliance matters. Preparing technical reports, correspondence, disclosure submissions, and settlement proposals. Liaising and negotiating directly with HMRC officers and other relevant stakeholders. Supporting voluntary disclosures and complex settlement discussions. Providing guidance and mentoring to junior team members where appropriate. Ensuring cases are managed effectively, deadlines are met, and high-quality client service is maintained. Requirements Significant experience handling tax investigations, tax disputes, compliance reviews, or HMRC enquiries. Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC processes. Proven ability to manage complex cases and client relationships. Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional qualification such as ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently within a fast-paced environment. Previous experience working within HMRC or managing HMRC investigations and enquiries is highly desirable, though not essential.
