The role
We’re looking for a Tax Manager to take ownership of tax across Portman Travel Group. This is a hands‑on role with real breadth — covering UK tax compliance, advisory work, and working closely with Finance and external advisers to make sure we’re doing things properly, efficiently and on time.
You’ll be the go‑to person for tax, trusted by senior finance leaders and able to translate technical tax matters into clear, practical advice.
What You’ll Be Responsible For

- Managing all UK corporation tax and VAT compliance across the Group
- Preparing and reviewing tax computations, returns and related disclosures
- Acting as the main point of contact for HMRC and external tax advisers
- Advising on VAT treatment across complex travel products and services
- Supporting audits, statutory accounts and year‑end processes
- Identifying tax risks and ensuring appropriate controls are in place
- Contributing to tax planning and efficiency projects where appropriate
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation and advising the business on impact
About You
- Qualified tax professional (CTA / ACA / ACCA or equivalent)
- Strong UK tax background, ideally with exposure to VAT‑heavy or multi‑entity businesses
- Comfortable working both strategically and hands‑on
- Able to explain tax clearly to non‑tax stakeholders
- Well organised, detail‑focused and confident managing deadlines
- Experience in travel, services or a fast‑moving commercial environment is a bonus, but not essential
