About the Role

This is a full-time, on-site Tax Manager position based in Preston.

As the Tax Manager, you will:

  • Oversee tax compliance and preparation for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate filings and adherence to UK tax regulations.
  • Lead tax planning initiatives and advise clients on tax-efficient strategies.
  • Interpret complex tax law to provide clear, actionable guidance.
  • Review tax returns prepared by team members.
  • Manage deadlines and tax queries, including liaising with HMRC when necessary.
  • Collaborate with other service lines.
  • Support junior staff through mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Contribute to improving internal tax processes and documentation.

Requirements

  • CTA Qualified.
  • Strong tax compliance and tax preparation skills, with experience managing corporate and individual tax obligations.
  • Proficiency in tax planning and tax law, able to interpret and apply UK tax legislation to varied client scenarios.
  • Broad tax knowledge across multiple areas, including risk identification and opportunity recognition.
  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA, CTA, or equivalent) and practice-based tax management experience.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex tax issues in clear, accessible language.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring team members and coordinating workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with tax/accounting software and standard office applications (Excel, Word).
  • Must be comfortable working on-site in Preston, with the ability to build long-term client relationships.
