Direct Tax Manager

Join one of Yorkshire’s largest in-house tax teams and help shape the future of tax at one of the UK’s leading supermarket retailers. As a Tax Manager, you will support the Corporate Tax Senior Manager and Head of Tax across a broad range of tax matters. This is a highly varied role where strong project management and problem-solving skills are vital. While experience across multiple tax areas is beneficial, it is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes:

  • Supporting the business on employment tax matters, including the management of PAYE Settlement Agreement submissions, advising on Benefits in Kind, Off-Payroll Working, National Minimum Wage compliance, overseas matters.
  • Supporting on group tax governance matters, for example, Senior Accounting Officer requirements, Tax Strategy, Corporate Criminal Offence processes.
  • Managing corporation tax matters for a sub-group of UK procurement companies. This includes UK tax compliance but also involves managing overseas tax advisors in relation to overseas offices.
  • Support on property tax matters, including SDLT and related corporation tax considerations.
  • The day to day will include managing HMRC enquiries and audits, managing group tax filings and collaborating with the finance teams and the wider business to advise on the tax impact of business and legislative changes.

About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is ACA/CTA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Is an experienced project manager
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced, commercial retail environment
  • Is a strong communicator with a collaborative mindset
  • Is looking to learn and develop within a supportive team
  • Has significant practical tax technical experience, including interpreting and applying UK tax legislation

Part time and flexible working options will be considered.
