Tax Manager (ATT/ACCA & CTA) | City of London | Leading Legal 500 Ranked Law Firm

The Tax Team

The Tax team is highly regarded and consists of:

  • An Head of Team
  • Two Tax Partners
  • A Senior Manager
  • Three Managers
  • An Assistant Manager
  • A Tax Executive
  • A dedicated Team PA

The team provides advice globally and specialises in Tax Advisory, Tax Compliance, and Tax Disputes, with particular expertise in advising:

  • International private clients
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Family offices

This role offers the opportunity to work with highly respected Tax Partners, specialising in advising global Indian families on complex UK tax matters. You will collaborate with award-winning lawyers across Corporate, Private Wealth, Real Estate, and Commercial teams, gaining exposure to sophisticated cross-border matters in a truly collaborative environment.

The Role

Overview

An exceptional advisory-focused opportunity for an experienced Tax Manager to join a growing ambitious team. The role is poised with client responsibility from day one and offers a mix of high-level advisory, client relationship management and business development.

You will deliver client-centric and commercially sound advice to global Indian families, entrepreneurial businesses, and international private clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting detailed tax advisory reports across a range of UK tax matters
  • Conducting technical research into UK tax legislation, HMRC practice, and relevant case law
  • Advising global Indian families on UK tax planning and structuring matters
  • Managing client matters, from initial scoping to delivery of advice, including:
    • Fee management
    • Ongoing relationship management
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for clients, family offices, and third-party professional advisers
  • Supporting complex tax compliance and tax dispute matters, including:
    • Drafting white space disclosures
    • Advising on treaty relief
    • Supporting motive defence claims
  • Preparing marketing materials and thought leadership focused on:
    • India-related tax issues
    • International private client matters
  • Contributing to business development through networking and client relationship management
  • Mentoring junior team members in:
    • Technical development
    • Performance reviews
  • Delivering exceptional client service, ensuring a consistently high standard

The role comes with significant autonomy, exposure to complex international matters, and a clear progression pathway towards Senior Manager status and beyond.

Requirements

  • Degree educated (minimum 2:1)
  • Attained ATT or ACCA qualification, with an additional CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser)
  • At least 8 years' experience within Tax Advisory
  • Strong experience advising entrepreneurial, international, or private clients on complex UK tax matters
  • Proven experience drafting high-quality tax advisory reports
  • Expert knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC practice
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to:
    • Explain intricate technical issues clearly
  • Strong analytical skills, allowing for important interpretation of financial data and tax legislation
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and client-focused, with a reputation for results
  • Advantageous: Experience in mentoring or supervising junior team members
