TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a fast-growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Guildford that is looking to recruit an experienced Tax Manager to join its expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-office firm with a strong presence across the South East, offering a full suite of accountancy, tax, and advisory services to a broad and diverse client base, including owner-managed businesses and private individuals. The firm offers a collaborative, professional environment with strong progression opportunities and a focus on delivering high-quality, client-focused advice.
The Role
As a Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services while also supporting the development of the wider tax team. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients, with a focus on owner-managed businesses
- Delivering tax compliance work and handling client queries independently
- Providing advisory services across areas such as inheritance tax, capital gains tax, estate planning, and R&D claims
- Preparing and reviewing tax computations and returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Reviewing work completed by junior team members and maintaining high technical standards
- Managing and developing a team, including training, mentoring, and workload planning
- Overseeing deadlines, workflow, and project delivery across the tax function
- Liaising with senior leadership on client matters and technical issues
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and HMRC
- Supporting business development activities and networking with new and existing clients
- Managing budgets and multiple client projects effectively

Requirements
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will likely have:
- ATT qualified, ideally CTA qualified
- Approximately 4–5 years’ experience within a tax role in an accountancy practice
- Strong personal tax experience, with exposure to corporate tax and advisory work being advantageous
- Excellent technical knowledge of current UK tax legislation
- Proven experience reviewing work and managing or mentoring a team
- Strong communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and HMRC
- Experience using tax and accountancy software, ideally IRIS or similar
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
