About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable and commercially minded Tax Manager to join our FTSE 250 Tax Group, reporting directly to the Group Head of Tax.
This strategic yet hands-on role demands ownership of corporate tax compliance, group reporting, VAT governance, and tax strategy support while engaging closely with finance, operations, and external advisors.
Responsibilities span UK tax filings, R&D tax credits, transfer pricing documentation, and Pillar 2 reporting, ensuring robust controls, risk mitigation, and strong HMRC relationships.

Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Own UK corporate tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings under advisor oversight.
- Manage quarterly tax payments and support financial forecasting for budget cycles.
- Lead tax reporting (half-year and year-end) under IFRS, maintaining ** controls and documentation**.

VAT & Indirect Taxes
- Review VAT returns and provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders.
Strategic Tax Leadership
- Advise on broad UK tax matters, including tax-efficient projects and business restructures.
- Lead the R&D tax credit process, liaising with advisors and internal teams.
- Optimise and manage the Group’s Patent Box position.
- Align tax governance with SAO (Sidewinder Accountability Officer) and CCO (Chief Compliance Officer) requirements.
Risk & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify and mitigate tax risks across the UK business.
- Build and maintain strong HMRC relationships to achieve a low-risk rating.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax processes and controls.
Regulatory Compliance
- Support the implementation of Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) and Pillar 2 initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor)/ATT/ACCA (Associate Chartered Certified Accountant)/ACA (Association of Chartered Accountants) qualifying body membership.
- Demonstrable experience in:
- UK corporate tax compliance (4–7+ years).
- Tax reporting under IFRS Standard.
- VAT management (a plus).
- R&D tax credits and Patent Box strategy (preferred).
- Expertise in managing external tax advisors, preferably within a large or complex international business.
- Direct experience as a Tax Accountant at a UK company with global operations.
- Familiarity with D365 (Microsoft Dynamics 365) or OneStream financial systems (advantageous).
