Tax Manager - REIT
Tax Compliance & Reporting Manager – Central London
Our client, a leading UK real estate investment business, is seeking an experienced Tax Compliance & Reporting Manager to join their established in-house tax team in London. This dynamic role spans corporate tax compliance, tax reporting, VAT, CIS, tax advisory, and strategic property-focused tax projects, offering exposure to a broad range of responsibilities.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the ideal candidate will take ownership of key UK tax compliance and reporting obligations while collaborating closely with finance, legal, and operational stakeholders. This role also involves maintaining tax governance standards, supporting business transactions, and driving tax process improvements.
Key Responsibilities

Corporate Tax & Compliance
- Manage the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns, ensuring all filings are accurate, compliant, and submitted on time
- Oversee REIT-related reporting, Corporate Interest Restriction returns, and associated tax filings

Tax Reporting & Liaison
- Prepare and review tax accounting calculations for statutory accounts and group reporting
- Work closely with the finance team during half-year and year-end reporting periods

VAT & CIS Compliance
- Oversee VAT and Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) compliance processes
- Ensure tax returns meet HMRC requirements and are submitted accurately

External Adviser Relations
- Manage relationships with specialist advisers, including capital allowances specialists and other tax advisors

Day-to-Day Tax Advisory
- Provide tax advice on corporation tax, VAT, CIS, SDLT, payroll, construction, leasing, and wider business operations

Strategic Projects
- Support acquisitions, disposals, restructuring activities, and corporate simplification initiatives

Process Improvement & System Transformation
- Identify tax process improvements and support Making Tax Digital initiatives to ensure ongoing compliance

Risk Management & Filings
- Review and oversee other obligations, including SDLT and PSA filings, ensuring deadlines are met

Stakeholder Engagement & Training
- Build strong business relationships, provide tax training, and guide non-tax colleagues to maintain a robust tax control environment

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualified Accountancy Professional
- CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent, with post-qualified tax experience (preferably in practice or property/REIT sector)
- Essential: Strong UK corporation tax experience, particularly within real estate or REITs

Skills & Attributes
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Strong relationship-building skills across the business
- Proactive, commercially aware, and able to explain technical tax matters to non-tax stakeholders
Package & Conditions
- Salary: £75,000–£90,000 (depending on experience)
- Bonus: Discretionary performance bonus
- Benefits: Additional perks and incentives
- Working Model: Hybrid (3 days in the central London office)
