Tax Senior
Salary: Up to £45,000 Working Arrangement: Hybrid
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Senior to join our client, a Top 20 firm based in Chelmsford, Essex.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering high-quality tax advisory and compliance services, serving a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple sectors. Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Managing complex tax returns
- Conducting tax planning strategies
- Ensuring adherence to evolving UK tax legislation and HMRC guidelines
Your expertise in taxation will contribute to client success, regulatory compliance, and the firm’s reputation for excellence. Responsibilities
- Prepare and review corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, ensuring alignment with UK tax legislation and HMRC requirements.
- Conduct detailed tax analysis and provide strategic tax planning recommendations, optimising tax efficiency for clients.
- Lead the preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, and other statutory filings, guaranteeing accuracy and timeliness.
- Liaise with clients, external advisors, and HMRC to resolve queries, respond to notices, and assist during audits or inquiries.
- Mentor and supervise junior team members, offering guidance on technical tax issues and best practices.
- Stay updated on changes to tax law, regulations, and accounting standards, integrating these updates into client projects.
- Contribute to drafting internal tax policies, checklists, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate on preparing client presentations and tax summaries for senior stakeholders.

Requirements
A Tax Senior must meet the following:
- Qualification: Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant with a primary focus on taxation; alternatives such as equivalent professional qualifications may be considered.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in a reputable accounting or tax firm.
- UK Tax Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
- Practical Experience: Proven expertise in preparing and reviewing complex tax returns as well as managing client tax compliance.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively explain complex tax concepts to clients.
- Proficiency: Experience with accounting and tax software such as CaseWare, TaxCalc, or Xero.
- Work Ethic: Ability to operate independently while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional Growth: Commitment to continuous learning and development in taxation.
