Tax Specialist – UK/EMEA

About the Role
Mondrian Alpha is partnering with a globally recognised hedge fund to recruit a Tax Specialist for its high-performance UK/EMEA Tax team.
This newly created position provides the opportunity to join an exceptional tax function, contributing to a firm renowned for excellence, global sophistication, and a strong commitment to talent development. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior tax leadership, internal business teams, and external advisers to deliver impact across a diverse range of tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
As a key member of the team, you will:
- Enhance corporate tax compliance
- Manage VAT filings and withholding tax processes
- Conduct transfer pricing reviews
- Support regulatory reporting
- Drive process improvements globally

Responsibilities

Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure accurate and timely corporate tax compliance
- Handle VAT filings and cross-jurisdictional tax submissions
- Manage withholding tax processes and intercompany financing strategies

Transfer Pricing & Audit Support:
- Assist in transfer pricing reviews and documentation
- Contribute to audits and regulatory inquiries, working closely with external advisors

Strategic & Process Improvement Initiatives:
- Drive efficiencies in tax reporting and operational workflows
- Stay abreast of tax law changes and interpret their implications
- Support technology-driven automation of tax processes
Requirements
- Experience: 0–2 years post-qualification (ACA/CTA) within in-house financial services or a leading accountancy firm
- Technical & Jurisdictional Knowledge:
- Essential: Strong UK tax expertise (direct and indirect tax)
- Preferred: Exposure to US or European tax regimes
- Desirable: Hands-on experience with transfer pricing, withholding tax, and double tax treaties
- Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor
- Commercial acumen and an ability to engage with senior stakeholders
- Process improvement-minded, with an aptitude for technology and operational efficiency
- Preferred Bonus: Experience in automating or streamlining tax reporting processes
