The Role
This is a key business compliance role ensuring we maintain good relations with both internal and external stake holders including the Tax authorities and minimise any potential penalties and enquiries. You will ensure the accurate and timely submission of indirect tax and excise returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Review of HMRC MSS data to ensure accuracy and validity of transactions
- Monitoring and coordinating with nominated clearance agent to submit full frontier declaration on the trader support system
- Arrange the movement of goods from under bond to free circulation/ home use
- Monitor and review the use of the HM Revenue and Customs EMCS system and ensure that units comply with EMCS movement closure within the limit of 5 days set by HMRC.
- Be responsible for monitoring dnata’s EMCS activity, ensuring we submit reports of receipt through EMCS no later than 5 business days after the goods are received
- Assist the Senior Tax Reporting Analyst and Indirect and Employment Tax Manager with duties where required such as: monthly VAT returns for HM Revenue and Customs; excise duty data collection, review, consolidation, preparation, and payment of monthly duty liability
- Maintain master database of imports which is used to cross charge, bill airlines and balance sheet reconciliation
- Play a key supporting role in projects as directed by the line manager
- Support Senior Tax Reporting analyst and Indirect Tax Manager with any queries or ad-hoc projects as applicable
- Responsible for the collation of Inward processing relief (IPR) disposals for IPR to HMRC (Bills of discharge) and examine and review C88 documents to ensure all details are correct
- Providing cover in our Treasury team by: Processing payments manually and through system generated files ensuring all and to end controls have been followed
- Liaise with payment approvers enabling a smooth payment process resulting in all payments made within SLAs
- Posting and reconciliation of all cash transactions on a daily basis
- Attendance of all cash related calls to develop understanding of commercial cash drivers in DCUK
- Supporting the creation and analytical review of DCUK long term cash forecast model
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Working towards a recognised accountancy qualification
- Relevant experience within a shared service environment
- Excellent MS Excel skills
- An ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Self-motivated and a team player
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong team player
- Highly organised with a keen eye for detail
- Knowledge of customs and international trade
- SAP experience (desirable)
