Our client is a highly respected regional law firm with a strong reputation for advising high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and business owners on complex private wealth matters. Recognised in leading legal directories, the firm is known for its collaborative culture, high-quality work, and commitment to developing its people. The Private Wealth team advises on a broad range of trusts, tax, and estate planning matters and acts for clients with substantial and often multi-generational wealth.
Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Trusts & Tax professional to join a well-established Private Wealth team in a senior capacity. Working closely with partners, solicitors, trustees, financial advisers, and other professional contacts, you will play a key role in the management and administration of complex trust structures while providing specialist tax support and guidance across a varied client base.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the administration of discretionary, interest in possession, lifetime, and will trusts
- Preparing and reviewing trust accounts
- Managing TRS registrations and compliance requirements
- Handling income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax reporting obligations
- Advising on trust structuring, wealth preservation, and succession planning matters
- Supporting annual trust reviews
- Assisting trustees in fulfilling their legal and fiduciary duties
In addition, you will:
- Mentor junior members of the team
- Contribute to business development initiatives
- Support the continued growth of the Private Wealth practice through the delivery of a high-quality and client-focused service

You will have significant experience in trusts, tax, and private wealth work, gained within a legal, accountancy, trust corporation, or professional services environment. Applications are welcomed from Trust Managers, Trust Administrators, Tax Managers, Private Client Lawyers, Chartered Tax Advisers, and STEP-qualified professionals seeking a senior, technically focused position. You should possess strong technical knowledge across trust administration, trust accounting, inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and income tax compliance, together with experience managing trust structures throughout their lifecycle.
Experience advising trustees, preparing trust accounts, handling TRS requirements, and supporting estate planning matters will be essential. STEP qualification would be highly advantageous, although candidates with ATT, CTA, solicitor qualifications, or equivalent experience are also encouraged to apply.
Tax & Trust Technical Requirements:
- Trust Administration: Managing discretionary, interest in possession, lifetime, and will trusts, including trust creation, ongoing administration, reviews, and terminations.
- Trust Accounting: Preparing and reviewing trust accounts, monitoring distributions, income and capital movements, and supporting annual compliance obligations.
- Income Tax: Preparation and review of trust and estate tax returns, trust income calculations, and ongoing HMRC compliance.
- Capital Gains Tax: Advising on disposals, reliefs, hold-over claims, reporting obligations, and tax-efficient planning opportunities.
- Inheritance Tax: Experience dealing with relevant property trusts, periodic and exit charges, succession planning, and wealth preservation strategies.
- TRS Compliance: Managing Trust Registration Service requirements and maintaining ongoing compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Advisory Work: Supporting trustees, families, and other stakeholders on trust, tax, estate planning, and wealth protection matters.
- Leadership: Supervising junior team members, reviewing work, and contributing to the technical development of the wider team.
