The Role
Erskine Stewart Melville are currently recruiting for a Teacher Assistant (Primary 1) to join the Junior School on a temporary basis from 14 August 2026 to 15 August 2027 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is part time and term time, working Monday to Friday 1-2.30pm (a total of 7.5hrs per week) with a salary of £4,289.62. The role is based at the ESM Junior School in Ravelston Dykes.
The purpose of the role is to work with individuals and groups of children to support their learning. The Teacher Assistant supports teaching staff and supervises children in the playground. The role will include such duties as:
- Support teaching staff within the classroom and with administration
- Supervise children in the lunch hall, in the playground and, in inclement weather, within the classroom.
- Work with individual children as directed by the Support for Learning Department.
The successful candidate must have experience of working with children and will be a kind and enthusiastic person who puts the interests of the children first. Ideally they would have experience of supporting a teacher in a classroom.

Eligibility
ESMS is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa.
