Position Summary
Under the supervision of a principal or other supervisor, the Teacher Assistant assists the teacher with classroom operations, including preparing class materials, correcting assignments, recording progress, and providing structured literacy support through the SIPPS reading program.
Position Overview
- This is a SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonological Awareness, Sight Words, and Phonics) Reading Tutor role.
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 9:00 A.M. – 3:15 P.M.
- The Reading Interventionist delivers small-group literacy instruction to elementary students, aiding in foundational reading skills, progress monitoring, and academic growth.
- Strongly preferred: Experience working with elementary students and knowledge of structured literacy instruction.

Core Responsibilities
- Assists teachers in delivering classroom instruction through:
- Preparing and organising instructional materials
- Correcting and recording student assignments
- Supporting teacher-led activities and modifications
- Implementing SIPPS intervention sessions with small groups
- Works collaboratively with teachers to track student progress and adjust support strategies
- Ensures students build robust foundational literacy skills
Qualifications & Requirements
✔ High school diploma or equivalent accepted at review stage
✔ One of the following:
- 2 years/48 semester hours of full-time postsecondary education; OR an associate’s degree; OR certification by passing the Utah State Office of Education-approved Para-Professional Test

Compensation & Terms
- Part-time: 4.4 hours/day; 174 days/year
- Hourly Rate (2026–27): $17.24 (under Davis School District’s Salary Grade 3)
- Promotion Note: Minimum 5% increase for internal promotions
