Coventry Learns

Coventry Learns is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.

We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.

We also offer a wide range of short community courses in the arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness, and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

We also provide courses for adults seeking work through the Council’s Job Shop.

Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced adult educator to join our dynamic team and help shape the next generation of STLS specialists, empowering them to be able to support the role of the teacher in education settings. You will design, plan, deliver and report on differing levels of STLS courses, including apprenticeships. Delivery will take place online and face-to-face in a variety of settings, supporting both existing and new partnerships.

You will join a supportive team of experienced tutors committed to excellence in teaching, learning and assessment, with opportunities for professional development and CPD.

Requirements:

  • All candidates must have the Right to Work in the UK. We are currently not offering sponsorship for this role.
  • This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality vocational and non accredited training for Supported Teaching and Learning courses (including apprenticeships).
  • Carry out work placement assessments and make competency judgements in conjunction with Awarding Body requirements.
  • Provide inclusive, culturally competent learning experiences that raise aspirations for diverse communities.
  • Set individual targets, monitor progress, and evaluate learner achievement.
  • Promote Adult Education provision through various channels, including social media.

Essential Requirements:

  • English and Maths minimum at Level 2; equivalent to GCSE Grade 4 or C.
  • Teaching qualification minimum at Level 3.
  • Primary School background experience within a teacher or teaching assistant capacity.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum practice and experience in apprenticeship or adult education delivery.
  • Strong understanding of equity, inclusion, safeguarding and Prevent.
  • Ability to teach across multiple venues and formats throughout the year.

Desirable Requirements:

  • STLS qualification at Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Assessors Qualification - D32, D33, A1 award or equivalent.
