We have a rich history of welcoming people from all over the world and are proud to be recognised as the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary, for our work in championing the rights of refugees and migrants. Lewisham is committed to anti-racist practice and living our values.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD) to work within an enthusiastic and dynamic team. You will be joining the central, peripatetic, Sensory Teachers Team working with children and young people from birth to 25 years’ old, in a variety of settings.
Location
The Sensory Teachers Team (STT) is based in Kaleidoscope; a multi-disciplinary centre providing a comprehensive, integrated specialist service for children and young people with educational, health and social needs. The TOD role is peripatetic and involves travelling around Lewisham to visit children/young people in their homes and settings. Some administrative elements of the role can be completed from home, so we have a hybrid- working model.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
