Teacher for English (Term-Time Cover – Permanent) – East Sussex Academy Hastings (Secondary)
Hours of work: 32.5 Working pattern: Full-time Closing date: Wednesday 08 October 2026, 12:00 pm Interview date: Tuesday 13 October 2026 Start date: 1st January 2027 (sooner if available)
We are looking for an inspirational English Specialist Teacher to join our growing school in Hastings for pupils aged 11–16.

We seek practitioners with teaching experience from mainstream (primary or secondary) or specialist education, including Alternative Provision, who are ready to provide excellent, high-quality education for all learners.

Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, inspiring lessons and support students’ personal growth
- Assist in behaviour management and pastoral care for students with complex needs
- Provide support to other staff, students, and families
- Innovate in teaching methods, incorporating new pedagogies and technology
- Contribute to a collaborative and research-based approach to school improvement
Requirements

| Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) | Required with subject specialisation in English |
| Proven teaching experience | Experience in mainstream or specialist education (including AP preferred but not mandatory*) |
| Passion for student progress | Commitment to raising achievement and narrowing the attainment gap |
| Evaluated DBS Check | Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) CG5 certificate required (provided if not already held) |
| Childcare Disqualification compliance | Must satisfy the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018 (self-declaration form required) |
