Teacher Industry Exchange Coordinator – Fixed Term Position
West Suffolk College Out Risbygate, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk IP33 3RL Salary: £29,556 - £30,585 per annum Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week Contract: Fixed term until 31 July 2028, required as soon as possible Reference: 5240
About the Role
West Suffolk College is seeking a Teacher Industry Exchange Coordinator to lead the planning, delivery, and quality assurance of the government’s new initiative to strengthen collaboration between education and industry.
The role involves:
- Developing and coordinating industry placements for teachers
- Enabling them to gain current, sector-specific knowledge and real-world experience
- Applying this directly to curriculum planning, teaching practice, and student career guidance
Key Responsibilities
This position requires close collaboration with:
- Employers
- Schools
- Colleges
- Training providers
The coordinator will:
- Identify and develop placement opportunities
- Broker partnerships
- Manage programme logistics
- Provide ongoing support to participants
- Oversee recruitment, teacher-employer matching, and quality assurance
- Monitor placement effectiveness
- Gather impact evidence
- Ensure programme targets are met
- Share best practices across the network
The role demands a proactive individual capable of:
- Building strong professional relationships
- Engaging diverse stakeholders
- Promoting technical education to sustain relevant workforce alignment

Requirements & Qualifications
- Relevant teaching or industry experience preferred
- Strong coordination, relationship-building, and stakeholder-engagement skills
- Passion for technical education and industry collaboration
- Ability to manage multiple logistics while ensuring quality assurance
