Maths Teacher – Animal Care and Land Management Department
About the Role
Leeds City College is seeking a Maths Teacher to join our dynamic team within the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role, you will deliver Maths sessions to Animal Care and Horticulture students as part of their programme of study.
The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships, and Higher Education (HE) qualifications. While this role will predominantly focus on Further Education (FE) students, flexibility and adaptability will be crucial, as you’ll support a variety of learners.
This position is based at Temple Newsam, a working farm and historical estate. Although the role does not require practical teaching, the successful candidate should enjoy being around animals and be comfortable working in a land-based environment.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare, and develop effective schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources
- Deliver inspiring Maths sessions across the curriculum using diverse teaching methods
- Design assessment activities, provide SMART learning targets, and offer developmental and timely feedback to motivate learners
- Build and strengthen relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement for success
- Reflect on teaching strategies to accommodate diverse student needs

About You
You should meet the following criteria:
- Be qualified to degree level in a related subject
- Hold (or be working towards) a recognised teaching qualification
- Have Level 2 English and Maths (with a commitment to improving to Level 3)
- Demonstrate recent teaching experience (e.g., a PGCE teaching placement) with evidence of active learning and differentiated teaching styles
