Teacher of Art (Fixed Term until 29/06/2027)

Craigroyston Community High School

Salary: £35,022 – £52,740

Hours: 35 per week

This post is regulated work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG Scheme), requiring candidates to:

  • Join (or update) the PVG Scheme.
  • Provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if they have worked continuously outside the UK for ≥3 months within the last 5 years.

An unconditional offer will require satisfactory clearance.

Pay salary scales are aligned with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

About the Role: Teacher of Art

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated teacher of art to join a team committed to nurturing young artists. The successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, assess, and monitor lessons in art, craft, and design from second to sixth year (ages 11–18), adhering to the Curriculum for Excellence
  • Embed collaborative inquiry learning, ensuring varied teaching styles (e.g. independent projects, group work, personal guidance)
  • Support students’ understanding of artistic skills, expression, form, space, text, and visual storytelling
  • Develop and maintain abstract, 3D, printmaking, and mixed-media resources aligned with national curriculum benchmarks
  • Encourage students to engage with contemporary and historic art movements
  • Ensure אותeric, safe, and inclusive practice in all teaching and school activities
  • Contribute to whole-school dialogues on educational policies, including approaches to creativity, critical thinking, and cross-curricular links
  • Participate in CPD opportunities (subject-specific and beyond)
