About This Role
New Hall School is delighted to invite applications for a dynamic and inspiring Teacher of Chemistry to join our thriving academic community.
This is a fantastic opportunity to ignite curiosity and foster a love of science, teaching Chemistry across the Senior Divisions (Years 7–13). You will play a key role in guiding students through their scientific journey, helping them develop both confidence and a passion for the subject.
We’re looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, creativity, and a spark of innovation to the classroom—someone ready to make Chemistry come alive and inspire the next generation of scientists.
Key Responsibilities:
- to set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students
- to promote good progress and outcomes by students
- to demonstrate good subject knowledge and curriculum knowledge
- to plan and teach well-structured lessons
- to adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students, including ensuring EAL, SEND and MAT students are supported in lessons
- to make accurate and productive use of assessment
- to know how to assess relevant subject and curriculum areas, including formative and summative assessment
- to mark books to a high standard, ensuring regular and constructive feedback
- to manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
- to maintain and develop a sound knowledge of their subject area, including developments in the teaching of that subject; to bring to the attention of appropriate people INSET needs and opportunities
- to deliver and communicate clearly the requirements of the examination specification and the Department’s schemes of work, including coursework requirements
- to take a significant role in the co-curricular programme and play an active role in trips and events

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected:
- to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
- to have Qualified Teacher Status and either be an experienced or Early Careers Teacher
- to have excellent communication, organisational, IT and leadership skills
- to have a secure understanding of child development and safeguarding
- to have the ability to motivate others, build effective teams and work positively with parents
- to have a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to work flexibly as required

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.
Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.

Due to the nature of this role, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken.
