Salary MPR / UPR (£32,916 to £51,048) subject to pro rata.
Scarborough UTC are looking to appoint a Teacher of Engineering to join our academy in September 2026 if possible, on a part time, permanent basis.
About The Role
The role involves teaching KS4 and KS5 learners, delivering OCR Cambridge Nationals, with desirable experience in industry‑standard software such as SolidWorks and certified training in health and safety, workshop skills, or a relevant industry trade.
About Us
Scarborough UTC is not a traditional school; we are a college-style environment for students in Year 9–13, designed to mirror the maturity, independence and professional expectations of the workplace. Each of the 44 UTCs across the country have their own specialisms; the Scarborough specialisms are Engineering, Health and Cyber. The specialisms form the core curriculum at a UTC and take centre stage ahead of other curriculum courses. Our students choose to join us because they want something different, ambitious and future‑focused.
Our students experience:
- Industry-led technical projects
- Mentoring from engineers and sector specialists
- University-led masterclasses
- Visits to partner organisations
- Real work experience each year
“A school of opportunity”; “Leaders and staff describe the school as a family. They feel mutually supported and value the attention leaders give them. Staff morale is extremely high.” “Behaviour is calm and respectful. In lessons, pupils are attentive and want to learn.” Ofsted 2022.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
