About the Role

This is a full-time position commencing September, tailored for an enthusiastic, expert English specialist to teach Key Stages 3-4. Your mission:

Key Requirements

  • QTS/Equivalent: QTS, QTLS, or a recognised UK teaching credential.
  • Enhanced DBS: Valid check registered with the DfE Update Service (or commitment to secure it immediately).
  • Curriculum Expertise: Knowledge of GCSE examination specifications and modern frameworks.
  • Right to Work: Proof of UK employment authorisation.

Key Skills

  • Advanced Subject Literacy: Deep command of English Language and Literature for KS3/4.
  • Behaviour Management: Use positive reinforcement techniques to sustain focus and order.
  • Adaptive Teaching: Differentiate for SEND and EAL pupils.
  • Progress Tracking: Analyse data to spot gaps and help students.
  • Formative Feedback: Use live marking, questioning, and verbal cues for impact.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Engage effectively with students, families, and teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, rigorous English lessons tailored to learner needs.
  • Monitor and report on academic progress, attainment, and effort for assigned pupils.
  • Set elevated student behaviour standards for a purposeful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve schemes of learning and shared resources.
  • Attend parents’ evenings, department briefings, and whole-school training.
  • Serve as Form Tutor, offering compassionate pastoral care and supporting student well-being.
  • Identify struggling pupils and deploy interventions to maximise GCSE outcomes.
  • Uphold academy/Trust policies, including safeguarding and welfare.
  • Provide professional, constructive marking aligned with school assessment strategy.
  • Commit to continuous reflective practice and professional growth.
