This is a full-time position starting in September, perfect for a dedicated Mathematics specialist. The successful candidate will:

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
  • Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain it).
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of current educational frameworks and GCSE Maths exam board specifications (e.g., Edexcel, AQA).
  • Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.

Key Skills

  • Advanced Subject Knowledge: Deep understanding of the UK National Curriculum for Mathematics, including:
    • Algebra
    • Geometry
    • Ratio
    • Statistics
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to implement positive behaviour strategies for a focused environment.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Skill in tailoring lessons for:
    • High-retaining students.
    • SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) learners.
    • EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.
  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in:
    • Tracking student progress data.
    • Identifying mathematical misconceptions and implementing interventions.
  • Formative Assessment: Expertise in:
    • Live marking
    • Low-stakes testing
    • Verbal feedback to push student progress.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills for:
    • Breaking down abstract concepts.
    • Engaging students, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Mathematics lessons that challenge and support all students.
  • Assess, record and report on pupils' development, progress and attainment.
  • Set high expectations for student behaviour, fostering a purposeful and mathematically rich environment.
  • Contribute to developing and reviewing the department’s schemes of work and mastery resources.
  • Participate in:
    • Parent evenings
    • Departmental meetings
    • Whole-school training days
  • Act as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and supporting students' holistic development.
  • Identify students requiring extra support and implement targeted GCSE interventions.
  • Uphold all school and Trust policies, including:
    • Safeguarding
    • Health and safety
  • Mark students’ work following school’s feedback and assessment policy.
  • Engage continuously in professional development to refine pedagogy and improve teaching practice.
