Teacher of Religious Education – Full-Time Permanent Position

Can you confidently teach Religious Education across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and potentially up to A-Level?
About The Role
This is a full-time, permanent Teacher of Religious Education position commencing in September.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant Humanities department, delivering high-quality RE lessons that:
- Promote critical thinking
- Celebrate diversity
- Foster moral development
The role entails:
- Guide students of varying ages and abilities
- Ensure understanding of the historical, cultural, and spiritual contexts of major world religions
- Support effective preparation for academic milestones

Key Requirements
- Qualification: QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent UK teaching qualification recognised by the government
- Clearance: Valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain this)
- Pedagogy & Curriculum Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of the UK Religious Education curriculum and its current developments
- Work Eligibility: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK

Pedagogical & Classroom Expertise
- Ability to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to diverse learning styles
- Skill in maintaining a purposeful, safe, and disciplined learning environment
Communication
- Strong verbal and written communication with students, parents, and colleagues
Curriculum & Assessment
- Ability to design and adapt departmental resources to meet exam board specifications
- Proficiency in differentiated instruction, including:
- Supporting high-achieving students
- Addressing needs of students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
Technology
- Strong ICT skills, including:
- Experience with digital teaching tools
- Familiarity with modern e-learning platforms

Responsibilities
Core Teaching & Assessment
- Plan sequential, progressive, and challenging lessons aligned with whole-school learning objectives
- Teach Religious Education across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (potential to extend to A-Level)
- Regularly mark student work and homework, providing constructive feedback as per school policies
- Track and monitor pupil achievement, using data to identify and address underachievement
Behaviour & Learning Environment
- Enforce the academy’s code of conduct, incorporating appropriate rewards and sanctions
- Maintain an orderly, up-to-date, and visually appealing classroom environment
Pastoral & Engagement
- Undertake form tutor responsibilities, including:
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality, and wellbeing
- Complete detailed progress reports
- Actively engage in parents’ evenings and reviews
Departmental Collaboration & Professional Growth
- Work with the Head of Department to develop, review, and enhance curriculum resources
- Participate in staff meetings
- Engage in multi-academy trust working parties
- Actively pursue continuous professional development (CPD)
