Science Teacher (Full-Time) – Rotherham

Transform complex physics or biology into engaging experiments and inspire students to achieve confidence in GCSE Sciences.

Collaborate with an innovative team of educators to make a measurable difference in pupils’ progression and success.

A full-time position starting September, ideal for a Science specialist with a passion for igniting curiosity.

The role covers:

  • Key Stages 3 (K Catalonia) & 4 (GCSE), with flexibility to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics.
  • Delivery of a knowledge-dense curriculum, encouraging deep analytical thinking and scientific inquiry.
  • Inspiring students across all abilities, leading safe and engaging practical work.

Requirements

  • QTS, QTLS, or equivalent UK teaching qualification.
  • Valid Enhanced DBS, registered on the Update Service (or approved to attain).
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Up-to-date familiarity with GCSE Science (Combined and Separate Science), exam board frameworks.
  • Full-time UK work eligibility.

  • Advanced Subject Knowledge: Proficiency in UK National Curriculum for Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Behaviour Management: Effective strategies to maintain a focused safety-oriented lab environment.

  • Data Analysis: Tracking and targeting student progress with precision.
  • Formative Assessment: Expertise in live marking, retrieval practice and verbal feedback.
  • Communication: Ability to break down abstract concepts, engage students and maintain clear dialogue with parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging science lessons suitable for all abilities.
  • Assess, report, and track student development and attainment.
  • Set strict expectations for behaviour, ensuring safe practical learning.
  • Contribute to and evaluate department schemes of work and practical resources.
  • Participate in parent evenings, departmental meetings, and training days.
  • Serve as Form Tutor, providing holistic pastoral support.
  • Identify and address needs of underperforming students via interventions.
  • Adhere strictly to school and Trust policies, including health and safety (CLEAPSS compliance).
  • Mark student work according to established feedback policies.
  • Engage in continued professional development to refine practice.
