About The Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for a Teacher to join our Foundation Studies department. This role is fixed term (maternity cover) until July 2027.
Foundation Studies is a discrete element of the curriculum offered within Luminate Education Group. The department provides bespoke learning for students who are identified as SEND and High Needs aged 16-25.
We take a student-centred approach to delivery so that students make the best possible progress towards EHCP outcomes, personal targets and the development of English and maths. We provide a welcoming and supportive environment in order to best support learners through their chosen pathways (Work Skills, Life Skills) for their preparation into adulthood.
What You Will Do
- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning, assessment plans and internal verification/moderation.
- Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
- Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course and be responsible for recording student progress
- Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational and educational research to develop evidence-based practice
- Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression.
- Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise their effectiveness, including through the use of technology.
About You
- Hold a PGCE qualification.
- Experience working with SEND students.
- Understanding of strategies to support and develop SEND students in line with the Preparation for Adulthood framework.
- Strong ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents and carers.
- Strong ability to develop rapport and empathy.
- Able to work in a team, sharing responsibilities and duties.
- Good organisational and administrative skills.
- Able to work in a team towards the EHCP outcomes and in line with the RARPA model of delivery.
