About the Role
Upton Grange School is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and forward-thinking Teacher who can:
- Deliver adaptive, personalised instruction in small-group settings.
- Foster collaborative decision-making with pupils (e.g., pupil voice).
- Maintain a strong emphasis on safeguarding, mental health, and emotional well-being.
- Innovate in lesson design for diverse learning styles/complex needs (e.g., autism, high-support pathways).

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery:
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning (SEN) plans, using the Equals Semi-Formal Curriculum where applicable.
- Implement progress tracking tailors to non-standard assessment methods (e.g., portfolios, digital verifications).

P pastoral & Safeguarding:
- Lead a nurturing, emotionally safe environment where pupils recognise their agency while adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Engage families and pupils in decision-making, ensuring consistency in an ever-shifting learning landscape.

Collaboration & Development:
- Contribute to year-group/departmental planning, including evaluations on attainment gaps.
- Model best practices in two-generation teaching (child + parent awareness).
- Reflect upon and improve practice through professional development (e.g., leadership workshops).
- Train, mentor, and reflect on practices with subject teachers and key therapies teams (speech language therapy, occupational therapy).

- Willingness to work as part of a learning ecosystem (collaborate daily with allied professionals).

- Calm yet dynamic—holds composure during challenging behaviours while adapting instruction on the spot.
- Resilient, able to innovate under time and resource constraints.
- Maintains work-life balance as a priority (we value teachers healthy enough to teach).
Required Qualifications
- Either:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills)
- Degree qualification (national level) recognised by the British Government (note: overseas qualifications reviewed as needed).
