Teaching and Learning Assistant (Autism: Full-Time, Term Time-Only) – The Rise Sixth Form

Hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm (Term Time Only) Start Date: September 2026 Location: Isleworth

The Rise Sixth Form is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching and Learning Assistants to join its growing team and support young people with autism on their journey to academic and personal success.

Every learner follows a personalised timetable and individual learning programme, tailored to their strengths, interests, ambitions, and support needs. With our emphasis on independence, self-expression, and meaningful outcomes, we empower young people to achieve success beyond education—both academically and personally.

As a Teaching and Learning Assistant at The Rise Sixth Form, you’ll play a vital role in supporting learners academically, emotionally, and socially. This is a deeply rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives as they transition into adulthood and further education.

Learners attend lessons at West Thames College, with further dedicated support provided within our sixth form base. Staff work closely with them to:

  • Prepare for lessons and assignments
  • Develop revision and study skills
  • Improve time management and organisation
  • Build confidence in essay writing and exam preparation
  • Access tailored exam arrangements and support strategies

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to our team by:

  • Supporting learners in a dynamic, personalised learning environment
  • Encouraging social interaction and emotional wellbeing
  • Assisting with academic work and exam preparation
  • Adapting methods to meet individual needs, including differentiated learning strategies
  • Ensuring learners engage confidently with peers, teachers, and members of the wider community
  • Maintaining a positive and nurturing approach to learning and behaviour management
  • Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
  • Collaborating with educational staff (teachers, SEN coordinators) to provide coordinated support

Person Specification

We’re looking for individuals who embody the following characteristics:

Essential:

✔ Strong empathy, adaptability, and resilience ✔ Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond constructively to challenges ✔ Deep commitment to safeguarding children and young people ✔ Enthusiasm for supporting individual learners in meeting their potential ✔ Willingness to contribute to a shared positive behavioural approach

Desirable (not essential but advantageous):

🔹 Experience working with autistic young people or individuals with additional needs 🔹 Familiarity with personalised learning approaches 🔹 Basic knowledge of exam support strategies or SEND regulations
