Teaching Assistant
Teaching Assistant: KS1 Intervention Support
Location: Tottenham Primary School Type: Part-time (Monday – Wednesday), Short-term + Long-term role
An inclusive Primary School in Tottenham is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to provide specialist KS1 intervention support on a Monday to Wednesday basis.
This urgent opportunity begins immediately and extends into the next academic year, offering the ideal setting for candidates looking for long-term part-time commitment within a supportive school environment.
The key role of the TA includes:
- Delivering phonics support in small groups and intervention sessions
- Providing 1:1 tailored assistance to pupils requiring additional learning support
- Leading targeted group interventions to overcome specific educational gaps
- Supporting broader KS1 classroom learning, fostering engagement and progress
- Collaborating closely with teachers and support staff for consistent curriculum alignment
Core Responsibilities
- Assist in phonics sessions as assigned by subject specialists
- Offer focused 1:1 support to pupils (engagement, confidence-building, academic reinforcement)
- Lead and monitor small-group interventions based on assessments
- Maintain a warm, inclusive environment to encourage pupil growth
- Contribute to whole-classroom learning while prioritising intervention needs
- Work closely with SEND/nursery staff where applicable

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven primary school experience, particularly in KS1 (Key Stage 1, ages 5–7)
- Strong phonics knowledge (e.g. synthetic phonic schemes such as DS Decodable, ReadWriteInc)
- Experience in intervention support or similar specific educational roles
- Patience, flexibility, and a proactive approach to helping children make progress
- Commitment to a regular Monday–Wednesday schedule
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one via Reeson)
