About the Role
Are you passionate about removing learning barriers and enabling every student to reach their potential? Join Outwood Academy Acklam as a Teaching Assistant, working closely with teachers to:
- Implement tailored learning activities for individuals and small groups
- Provide academic and pastoral support
- Work with SEND/EAL students and develop individual education plans (e.g., One Page Profiles, EHCPs)
- Contribute to student well-being through emotional and practical care
This dynamic role spans classroom assistance, intervention support (Bridge, PLC), exam invigilation, and educational visits.

Key Responsibilities
• Teaching cycle support: Deliver planned lessons, track progress, and offer feedback • Academic/Pastoral Care: Support students with barriers, emotional needs, or personal care (eating/dressing/hygiene) • Intervention Leadership: Assist responsibility for Bridge, PLC, and action planning • Inclusivity: Collaborate on SEND/EAL strategies, including One Page Profiles and EHCPs • Education Visits: Escort/expect student groups outside of school • Examinations: Invigilate formal assessments (e.g., mocks/external exams)

Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Proven experience working with children/young people (educational/support setting preferred)
- Strong communication skills and adaptability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and awareness of data protection/GDPR
- Commitment to ongoing training per medical/care plans
- Willingness to undergo DBS and safeguarding checks
Desirable:
- Prior work with SEND/EAL learners
- Handling of challenging behaviours/timekeeping in situational-responsive roles
