Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (SEND Pupil)
Location: Widney Junior School, Solihull Salary: £26,824 – £29,540 pro rata per annum (actual: £10,876 – £11,977) Hours: Term-time only, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM Contract: Fixed-term, starting September 2026, ending 31st August 2027
About the Role
Widney Junior School is seeking a Child-Specific Teaching Assistant to provide specialist 1:1 support for a pupil with:
- A diagnosis of Autism
- Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile
- Complex additional needs
Notable:
- Experience with SEND pupils is desirable.
- Visits to the school are welcome.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised, one-to-one support to enable the pupil’s engagement in learning and social interactions.
- Collaborate with the school team to implement strategies for managing PDA behaviours and supporting emotional regulation.
- Assist with daily routines, academic tasks, and transitional activities as required.
- Maintain all records and updates in line with safeguarding policies.

Requirements
- Qualifications: A minimum of an NVQ/VCert Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent isessential.
- Experience: Desirable experience with autistic children (especially PDA) and complex social/behavioural needs.
- Personality: Ability to work flexibly, patiently, and collaboratively in a nurturing environment.
- Commitment: Enthusiasm to support individual progress for 1 full school year (restricted to Widney Juniors).
