- 32.5 hours per week
- Term-time only (39 weeks per year + 6.05 weeks annual leave)
- Fixed-term contract: 22.07.2027 (in first instance)

Role Summary
Groombridge St Thomas C.E.P. School is appointing a Teaching Assistant for the academic year 2026/2027, initially until July 2027.
Teaching Assistants are integral to the school, supporting pupils’ learning and daily routines under the direction of the class teacher or SENCo. Tasks may include:

- Providing one-to-one or small group support for pupils.
- Assisting in group lessons and general classroom activities.
- Supporting during lunchtimes and PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) time.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Be enthusiastic, flexible and a good team player.
- Show self-motivation and the ability to use own initiative.
- Possess strong numeracy and literacy skills/qualifications.
- Have prior experience working with children.

Conditions & Compensation
- Salary: Grade 3–4 (£24,796 to £25,583 pro rata, depending on experience)
- Term-time only, including INSET days
- Part-time contract (32.5 hours per week)

Requirements & Safeguarding Compliance
The role requires:
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) clearance – Enhanced check for Regulated Activity for all school-based staff.
- Completion of a confidential health questionnaire.
- Written references.
- Safeguarding & Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018 compliance:
- Self-declaration check to ensure no disqualification under the 2018 Regulations.
- If disqualified, the school expects an application to Ofsted for waiver if the candidate is otherwise the preferred choice.
