Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Location: Longdon Parkway, Burton, DE14 2WD

Hours: 40 hours per week | Mon, Wed - Fri 8:30am - 4pm, Tue 8:30am - 5pm

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

About the Role

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to be based at our Longdon Parkway site in Burton. We’re expanding our dedicated team and searching for compassionate, enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join us in transforming lives for students aged 14-19 years old.

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital part in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, helping them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

You’ll work closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff in a collaborative environment that values empathy, creativity, and personal growth.

What you will be doing

  • Support teaching staff in preparing lessons and delivering engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Work 1:1 and in small groups, guiding pupils through personalised learning plans.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour through patience, understanding, and consistency.
  • Supervise and inspire pupils during classroom and outdoor activities, promoting independence and confidence.
  • Build trusted relationships that make pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated.
  • Create a calm, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive.

  • GCSE Grade C/5 in English & Maths required
  • A positive, resilient attitude and genuine care for supporting young people with additional needs
  • The confidence and adaptability to work both in the classroom and outdoors
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Driving Licence required

Longdon Park School opened in June 2015. We are a co-educational day school catering for pupils aged 7 to 18 with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviour primarily with a diagnosis of ASD. We provide a therapeutic, supportive and inclusive learning environment where our young people learn to accept responsibility for their actions, make positive decisions and display pro-social behaviour. We are committed to raising achievement and enabling pupils to recognise their potential and supporting them through a personalised, engaging curriculum. Our priority is to develop the foundation knowledge and skills required to make a manageable and smooth transition to the next life stage.
