Role: Teaching Assistant

Location: M5, Greater Manchester

Pay: GBP14.25 - GBP16.65 per hour (PAYE or umbrella)

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Start Date: September 2026

Teaching Assistant - Year 6 Upper Key Stage 2 SEND Support

Reeson Education is delighted to be recruiting for an exceptional Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in the M5 area from September. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant to become a valued member of a Year 6 team, supporting pupils during one of the most important years of their primary education.

The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely alongside the class teacher, providing high-quality classroom support while also delivering targeted interventions and supporting pupils with additional learning needs. This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant who thrives in Upper Key Stage 2 and is passionate about helping every child achieve their full potential.

This is a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant position for the full academic year, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

  • Support teaching and learning within a busy and engaging Year 6 classroom.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to prepare pupils for SATs and the transition to secondary school.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in English and Maths to small groups and individual pupils.
  • Provide classroom support to ensure every child can access learning and reach their potential.
  • Support pupils with SEND, adapting learning where appropriate and encouraging independence.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, helping to develop confidence, resilience, and self-belief.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and assessment activities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and parents to support pupil progress.

The Ideal Teaching Assistant

The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant who has:

Essential:

  • Previous experience working within Upper Key Stage 2, particularly Year 6.
  • Experience delivering interventions and supporting pupils preparing for SATs.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH, or other additional learning needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed both academically and personally.
