Teaching Assistant

Company Description

At Catch22, we are proud of our reputation as a modern and progressive employer. Our 1,300 colleagues and 300 volunteers work at every stage of the social welfare cycle, supporting over 60,000 individuals from cradle to career. Catch22 College is the collective name for 8 sites we have across the country delivering academic and vocational training programmes for young people aged 16+ who, for whatever reason, are not suited to a mainstream school setting. Our Nottingham site, like all our other School sites, provides students with a highly supportive environment where they have access to opportunities building up their confidence and self-belief, and gaining new skills and experiences that will help them to achieve their goals in life. We exist to help our students find their future.

Job Description

You will be supporting the delivery of Maths and English, vocational Qualifications, and enrichment elements to help our students prepare for independence, and work experience. We expect every member of the team to work collaboratively and flexibly, but you will have specific accountabilities, which include:

  • Supporting our Tutor to deliver English, Maths and ICT Functional Skills, GCSE English and Maths resits, and a vocational subject (currently BTEC Work skills) over four teaching days.
  • Supporting the Placement and Progression Officer to plan and deliver employability workshops, supporting guest speakers and providing enrichment activities
  • Providing support to learners on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, and all the while with empathy, respect and patience, appreciating that our students have faced, and continue to face many challenges in their lives which can make them harder to engage.
  • Contributing to regular student reviews, using this and any other opportunity to build up our students’ self-belief and confidence,
  • Supporting the tutor address any poor behaviour in a way that’s appropriate to the situation and to the learner.
  • Promoting a culture of expectation and aspiration at the school – a genuine sense, shared by our students, that they are here to learn, grow and succeed, not just pass the time of day.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
