Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: M9, Manchester
Pay: GBP14.25 - GBP16.65 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time Long-Term Full Academic Year

A welcoming and highly supportive primary school in the M9 area of Manchester is seeking an exceptional Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEND Provision from September for the full academic year.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Non-verbal communication
- Sensory processing needs
- Communication and Language difficulties
- Learning difficulties
- Social and emotional development needs
The children benefit from highly structured routines, visual timetables, sensory strategies and consistent support from adults who understand how to adapt learning around individual needs. Every day is rewarding, varied and centred around helping children become more confident, independent and successful.

Your Responsibilities
As a Teaching Assistant, You Will
- Support pupils on both a 1:1 basis and within small group activities.
- Help deliver engaging, differentiated learning throughout the school day.
- Use visual supports, communication aids and sensory strategies to encourage engagement.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils through consistency, patience and encouragement.
- Support children with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the day.
- Promote communication, independence and social interaction.
- Work closely with teachers, therapists and the wider SEND team.
- Follow personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
- Provide personal care where required.
- Create a calm, safe and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will Have
- Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD).
- Experience working with non-verbal pupils.
- Knowledge of sensory processing needs and communication strategies.
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs.
- A calm, nurturing and resilient approach.
- Excellent behaviour management skills.
- The ability to follow routines and structure consistently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
