SEN Teaching Assistant: Primary School
📍 Mitcham, South London

A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Mitcham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who have additional needs, helping them thrive both academically and emotionally within a nurturing school environment.
The Role
- Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with special educational needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs)
- Assisting the class teacher with adapting learning materials and activities
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children with SEN (school-based or relevant setting)
- Patient, empathetic and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Proactive, reliable and committed to supporting individual needs
