I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to the class teacher and students, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Your responsibilities will vary based on the specific needs of the students and the classroom, but will include assisting with educational activities and providing one-on-one or small-group support. This role is a fantastic way to leverage your non-school-based skills in a structured educational setting.
Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a compassionate individual with a genuine passion for working with young people.
- Experience: While experience as a teaching assistant is a plus, we highly value experience gained from other roles supporting children or young adults with diverse needs. This could include experience in a care home, youth centre, therapy setting, or as a support worker.
- Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or childcare is desirable but not essential. The most important qualification is your experience and passion for working with young people.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be patient, understanding, and adaptable. Experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs or disabilities would be a significant advantage.
