The Avon Valley School & Performing Arts College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join our friendly and supportive learning support team.
In this role, you will:
- Work closely with classroom teachers to deliver small group and one-to-one support
- Assist students with SEN and behavioural needs
- Make a tangible difference in students' learning experiences

The Role & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- In-Class Support: Help students understand instructions, stay focused on tasks, and engage with learning activities
- Resource Preparation: Assist teachers in creating tailored materials and displays for students with additional needs
- Inclusion: Ensure all students, including those with SEN (Special Educational Needs), are fully integrated in lessons
- Progress Monitoring: Observe and document student development, providing feedback to classroom teachers
- Behaviour Management: Promote positive behaviour, focus, and well-being in line with school policies
- Supervision: Ensure safety and well-being during break, lunch, and non-structured times

What We’re Looking For
Qualifications & Skills:
- A good understanding of maths and English (GCSE English & Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Resilience, patience, and flexibility – with a "can-do" attitude
- Strong teamwork abilities in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Previous experience working with young people (paid or voluntary) is beneficial, though comprehensive training will be provided
