Teaching Assistant – Wetherby Kensington
About the Role
Wetherby Kensington is a two-form, non-selective, pre-preparatory school for boys from Reception to Year 3. As part of the Wetherby School curriculum and Wetherby Group of schools, it will uphold the same academic standards and ethos while being an integral part of the Alpha Plus Group, one of the country’s leading educational institutions.
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning within our dynamic team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with class teachers to foster a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that cultivates curiosity, independence, and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Support class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and child-centred learning experiences.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and track progress.
- Create and maintain a stimulating, well-organised, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development through supportive approaches.
- Assist in observing, recording, and sharing student progress with teaching staff.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs, where required.
- Supervise pupils during break times, lunch, school trips, and school events.
- Help pre-pare learning materials, classroom displays, and resources.
- Contribute to classroom routines, transitions, and day-to-day organisation.
- Strictly adhere to safeguarding, behaviour, and child protection policies at all times.

Ideal CandidateQualifications
We are looking for candidates with:
- Relevant experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct in schools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A warm, patient, and proactive approach, setting high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement.
- Flexibility and collaboration—willingness to support across varying classroom and school activities.
- Ability to effectively support learning in both group and one-to-one settings, including behaviour and classroom management.
- (Desirable) Experience in an international or diverse school environment.
- (Advantageous, not essential) Additional language skills relevant to the school location.
