Oakington Manor Teaching Assistant Apprentice
Oakington Manor is a large, exciting, 3 form entry, primary school with over 700 pupils. We are looking for 5 Teaching Assistant Apprentices to join our team, where you will support educators in creating a positive and effective learning environment, contributing to the overall development of a dynamic educational experience.
Wage
Competitive
This pay rate is above National Minimum Wage. For 31.25hrs a week, school term time only (38 weeks) total salary is £10,900 per annum (due for review in April 2027).

What you'll do at work
Working as a Teaching Assistant Apprentice you will:
- Raise standards of achievement for students by providing support through 1-1 and group activities, whilst additionally supporting teaching staff
- Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom
- Support programmes to teach literacy and numeracy and assist pupils to access the full curriculum
- Supervise pupils in the playground and organise playtime activities
- Ensure the physical welfare of pupils, assist pupils with their physical needs as appropriate, and agreed
- Where necessary, support with extracurricular activities ranging from breakfast and lunch clubs to sports days and school trips

What you'll learn
Course contents:
- Apply strategies to support and encourage the development of independent learners
- Adapt communication strategies for the audience and context
- Apply behaviour management strategies in line with organisational policy
- Adapt resources to support all learners
- Communicate with teachers to ensure clarity of the TA’s role
- Apply teaching strategies to deliver learning activities or interventions
- Build relationships with learners, teachers, other professionals and stakeholders
- Comply with legislation, guidance, and procedures for Prevent, safeguarding and health & safety
- Support the well-being and mental health of learners
- Observe, record, and report on learners in line with organisational procedures
- Apply methods of formative assessment
- Use up to date technology safely, to support learning
- Encourage safe use of technology by learners
- Adapt teaching strategies to support all learners (for example, scaffolding, open questioning)
- Identify and respond to pastoral and academic behaviours in learners
- Provide feedback to learners

Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Training will be carried out at the school or online on a weekly basis
- Training schedule has yet to be agreed. Details will be made available at a later date
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade A-C / 9-4)
- Maths (grade A-C / 9-4)

We are located in Wembley, London's most ethnically diverse borough in the shadows of the iconic Wembley stadium arch. Oakington Manor has recently turned into an academy as of April 2016 and is now part of Excellence in Education along with our federated school Furness Primary School.
