Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Level 3) – Ayresome Primary School

About the Role

Ayresome Primary School is looking for a dedicated and career-driven candidate to join their team. This is a great opportunity to gain a Level 3 qualification while obtaining valuable classroom experience.

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Effective communication with a range of people, including children
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Working Week

  • Monday to Friday (term-time only)
  • 35 hours per week (daily hours to be confirmed)

Compensation

  • £8.00 per hour – starting at the National Apprenticeship Wage
  • Wage increase to the National Minimum Wage after 12 months on the programme

Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role

Support teaching and learning under the direction of senior staff, working with individuals and/or small groups of pupils within structured guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing work and activities in line with teacher-defined objectives
  • Support planned learning activities and programmes
  • Help evaluate learning activities with teaching staff
  • Work with pupils on targets to meet learning objectives
  • Provide general feedback on progress under teacher guidance
  • Arrange and provide resources for lessons/activities
  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development
  • Assist pupils with IT in their learning activities
  • Organise and tidy classroom materials as directed (e.g., photocopying, filing)
  • Support motor skills (eating, dressing, hygiene) while encouraging independence
  • Record basic pupil data under teacher direction
  • Assist with educational visits
  • Work with pupils with special educational needs and those for whom English is not their first language
  • Support inclusive learning and individualised education

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) with diverse stakeholders, including children

Education & Qualifications

  • GCSE (Grade C/4 or above) in English & Maths (or equivalent)
  • Willingness to complete an NVQ Level 3 (Teaching Assistant) or equivalent
