Teaching Assistant (Colwich CE Primary School)

General Teaching Assistant

About the Role

Colwich Church of England Primary School is seeking an exceptional and compassionate General Teaching Assistant to join our school family. We’re looking for candidates who are deeply committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to flourish.

Position Details

  • Salary (FTE): £25,583 (Grade 3, Point 5) (pay award pending)
  • Actual Salary: £8,961 (FTE adjusted)
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term (Term-Time only, 39 weeks)
  • Hours: 15 per week
  • Working Pattern: Monday – Friday mornings
  • Start Date: 1st September 2026
  • End Date: 21st July 2027
  • Location: Colwich Church of England Primary School, Main Road, Colwich, ST17 0XD

Key Responsibilities & Skills

You will support pupils with a range of educational and behavioural needs, including:

  • Classroom support: Assisting with teaching and learning for students, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and cognition and learning difficulties.
  • Individualised support: Getting to know pupils as individuals, understanding their needs, and building trusted, supportive relationships.
  • Inclusivity & advocacy:
    • Championing SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) with confidence and passion.
    • Removing barriers to learning for all children.
  • Behavioural & emotional support: Helping children regulate emotions, manage behaviour, and engage positively with learning.
  • Collaborative teamwork:
    • Working closely with teachers, leaders, families, and external professionals.
    • Contributing to wider school activities and reinforcing our family ethos.
